As I mentioned in my previous blog, I took the day off to spend the day there. I had two main reasons for this.
1. I wanted to go to the Mademoiselle Prive exhibition at the Saatchi gallery
2. I needed to collect a handbag that I had bought off someone who lives in London
I started my day with a hair cut and blow-dry and then I headed off up into London.
Obviously, my first stop was Harrods!
I had seen some gorgeous boots from Carvela that are cheaper versions of the much desired Highland Boots by Stuart Weitzman. I have been wanting these boots for so long but I just couldn't justify the £595 price tag, as nice as they are!
When I saw that Carvela had some extremely similar ones for less than half the price, I had to go and try them on!
As I walked into Harrods, I just so happened to enter the door that brings you in by Tom Ford, now.. talking about not justifying something for its price tag, Tom Ford lipstick has been on my radar for a little while now. It's like it was meant to be, when I walked in I was approached by one of THE best sales assistants I have ever come across, he was fabulous and in my head there and then, I justified the ridiculous price tag in my head!
There I was trying on all my favourite colours and then happily walking to the till to purchase my new shade of lipstick, Pink Tease.
Now, this lipstick is beautiful and I do love it, oh and it looks super-pretty on my dressing table, however... It is just as good as my MAC beauties and with a price tag of £38, I would probably just stick with all the colours of the rainbow that MAC provide.
With my Tom Ford bag in hand, I headed up to shoe heaven, one of my favourite places on earth.
I went straight to the Carvela section and spotted the boots on display immediately. I was approached again by a lovely sales assistant and they cleverly said, "these will look fabulous on you", my reply was quite simple, yes please and get me them in every colour- Just Kidding!
I asked to try on my size and when they came back they told be the black pair was out of stock and that I should try the taupe on for size, so they could order me in the black pair. Good idea, I thought, and then obviously fell straight in love with the taupe pair!!!
I bought them without hesitation and then my brain immediately wanted the black pair too, what am I like! You will be pleased to know that, for now, I have just purchased the one pair and I am totally obsessed with them!
He is quite good like this and open minded to any kind of exhibition, however, he was not too impressed when he saw the long and winding queue.
I had heard all about these queues but I thought that as it was a Friday night, it would be ok... Not OK!
While waiting in the queue I had organised to meet one of my favourite luxury bloggers as she had sold me her gorgeous unused Victoria Beckham bag. www.chouquette.co.uk is her blog and it is brilliant!
I have followed her blog for about 6 months now and she right up my street, constantly wearing the best of the best but mixing high street pieces with luxury accessories, often head-to-toe in CHANEL and she also offers great advise on her blog as to saving for that big investment piece!
Anyway, I started following her on snapchat and she is hilarious, I saw her mention that she may sell her VB bag and I immediately wrote to her telling her I was interested, she was so nice and I got it for a crazy amount- and when I say crazy I got a really good deal, she had bought a couple and had no need for that many, so this bag, which is currently on Net-a-porter for £1,100, I got with more than 50% off.
When I was organising picking it up from her she was really lovely and when I met her she was equally as friendly and very pretty! I recommend having a nose at her blog if you haven't already because if you like mine you will LOVE hers - it is very professional and she has done extremely well with it.
I love the bag and it is a colour that will make any outfit pop... especially as most my wardrobe is black!
Like I said, a lot of people did think this was amazing, so it is just my opinion and it didn't help that I went with someone who was not that interested! I loved the way they laid out all the different rooms and I liked the app that you follow around each room but I would have liked more words and more clothes and more smells!
As you leave the event you are given a goodie bag with a poster, which I really liked and thought that was a lovely touch.
After the exhibition, we went for dinner at Bill's, which was scrummy!
I had such a fabulous day and travelled home a very happy lady
Until next time...
Love Life,
Emma xxx
