This morning, I took off to Kempton Park to find myself some antique bargains.
I love this market, but you do have to rummage! One mans junk is another's treasure and all that!
Moving out and saving has been topic of most of my partner and I's conversations of late and going here together only seemed to fuel it. They have some really beautiful pieces and with the right eye they can fit perfect into a vintage style home.
We don't have a home together yet so my purpose of this trip was to get a lovely cashmere cardigan, which I know a couple of little stalls sell.
I found a stall, which sold some gorgeous cashmere and I ended up buying a cardigan and a jumper- they are just so soft! After a bit of haggling I got the pair for £20!! Not bad at all, if I do say so myself.
Decorating a home can be very expensive, and with all the bills you are already having to pay out and in this day and age, it makes it very hard to get yourself on the housing ladder.
So, me and my partner have decided that it might be a good idea that when we see something we like (providing it isn't massive, like a sofa) we will buy it, so that when we eventually move out- we don't have to worry so much about having an empty home and we can still afford to eat.
Kempton had some hidden treasures this morning (we had to get up at 6.30am to get the good stuff) we fell in love with a beautiful light, however, it was £480 so we decided to dream on, we also saw a vintage mirror that was hidden by wooden doors so that it looked like a cabinet, we bought ourselves a Brick Lane road sign, we got a deal of £15 but I hear the real one sold for hundreds of thousands at auction, so I'm very happy with my cheaper version (otherwise I'm never going to be able to afford to move out)!
There was a lot going on and it was extremely busy, but if you like vintage and antique, then I really recommend this. It opens very early, so you can even go before work! The antique market runs on the second and last Tuesday of every month and is free to park.
Happy rummaging!
Love life,
