So I thought it was only right that my first proper blog was about my favourite thing, a subject that can keep me talking for ages and makes me very happy!
SHOES, of course! 😉
My shoe obsession began when I was younger, the usual first moment when you try on your mum's killer heels and try sliding them across the floor on your tiny feet. Luckily for me my mum also loves shoes but she isn't quite so fussy with the brand (if she likes them, she buys them, primark or not and there is no problem with that). I know this makes me seem a little materialistic but it's not as much about the brand, more the quality. There is nothing like the smell and feel of expensive, well-manufactured shoes- your feet will thank you for it!
When I first started wearing heels I would shop in the high street, office, topshop, dune etc. and don't get me wrong I still love these brands, however... For my 22nd birthday I had a taste of the 'high' life!
Christian Louboutin..
The whole experience was amazing from start to finish! I went up to London with a good friend and we decided to start in Harrods, I love this shop and I love the reward points scheme there, so if I can buy something from there instead of the actual shop, I will! My visit was a little premature though as the CL had not yet opened yet- after a small stop in the chocolate shop we decided to venture into the Christian Louboutin Boutique in Motcomb Street.
This was very exciting and because we went on a week day we discovered that we had the shop to ourselves, we were like giggling school girls getting high off the aroma of the expensive leathers and shag pile carpet!
We were greeted by a very tentative sales assistant who couldn't do enough for us, I told him that it was my first time and so he had me trying on all sorts. I knew exactly what I wanted on arrival (black patent Lady Peeps) but trying on so many other options only fuelled my burning desire for more shoes!
After eventually purchasing the shoes I had gone in for, I found myself thinking about how long it would take me to save up for another pair I had tried on in the shop (it sounds awful, I know) I have posted a picture of me outside the shop with my new purchase and as you can see I can't wipe the smile off by face- it was an amazing day!!
Before going to CL I had convinced myself that once I had bought one pair it would satisfy my needs and that would be it.. I later realised that this was just the beginning of my expensive taste for shoes.
I saved up and bought my second pair a couple of months later (beige patent Altadama's), I had convinced myself that I needed just one more pair as the first pair were black and if I bought a beige pair then between the two pairs, they would go with virtually every outfit. I realise now that this sounds ridiculous but in my head, I did not need much persuading!
I still only have the two pairs of red soles but I am dreaming of my third pair, which I have convinced myself to save for, they have a much lower heel- so I can obviously wear them much more! HA- HA! I do know how mad I sound!!
On a lighter, cheaper note I have found some great websites that sell luxury brands as discount prices and I have used them and found them to be genuine (and trust me I examine them thoroughly as I can't bare to be ripped off and wearing replica's) and great value for money (www.secretsales.com)- Harrods also have amazing finds in the fabulous sales they do, but you have to get there quick!
Ok, so there is an insight into my shoe obsessed brain- there will no doubt be much more where that came from in future blogs and I can tell you about the other shoe brands I love and recommend!
Until then,
Love life,
Emma xxx
