I hope it went quickly for you and you are now all relaxing on your sofas or in bed reading this Monday evening blog!
I realised that I have spruced up my make-up for spring without telling you guys! I know I have a lot of make-up lovers that read this and I want to fill you in with what I am loving now.. Oh and I also want to give you an update with how I am getting on with my new skincare routine!
Sorry that song always comes into my head when I say that- completely irrelevant!
MAKE-UP
I have taken my first visit to Space NK and I love it there. I had heard so much about the Nars sheer glow foundation, so I took a trip into Guildford bare-faced ready to try out some new products. I do like mixing it up and trying new things and you know it's good if I buy a product more than once!
I am currently using my Elizabeth Arden foundation, which works really well with my skin and from that point of view I have had no problems with it. The downside is the colour I bought, it's not quite right and once I have a bit of colour on my face- it looks great.. but at the moment the wintery months have really caught up with me and it's just not working!
Once in Space NK, I was greeted by a lovely lady who asked if she could help, we started discussing Nars products and I told her I wanted to try Sheer Glow.. To which point she straight away said it was not for me.. The reason for this is because if you have any type of oil on your skin, it simply will not last (apparently.. I'm yet to try it!) When she asked earlier about my skin type I told her that I was a combination skin type. I get dry, sensitive cheeks but I have a slightly oily T-zone. I'm not majorly oily but apparently that doesn't matter! The lady steered me to the new Nars foundation, which I was slightly hesitant of getting because I had heard too much positive things about sheer glow.
The new foundation by Nars is called 'All day luminous weightless foundation'. It's £32 and I am the shade 'Mont Blanc' At first I was not sold because if you have any kind of dry patches it seems to stick to it, showing it up. However, I have now purchased a new moisturiser (which I will get to later) and it seems to have done the trick. I have also purchased the new beauty blender, which I blogged about a couple of weeks ago and this seems to also really help with the application of this foundation. It looks much better when applied with the blender than a brush.
This product does last well, (all day I would say) and it is natural but can be built up really easily if you want a more flawless look. This product matches my skin tone perfectly, which does mean that I need to top it up with some bronzing powder otherwise people ask if I am feeling ok!!
Oh, I forgot to mention.. this foundation also comes with a pump, which I know a lot of people complained about with the sheer glow as you had to tip it out.
The lady also applied the Nars 'Vanilla' coloured concealer as I need a new one, I really liked it but unfortunately they had sold out in my colour.. so that will be next month's purchase.
I wanted something fresh and new for my eyes as I am never very imaginative with them, I either have my Bobbi Brown shimmer brick on them or a black flick.. That's as inventive as it gets!
I saw on Tanya Burr's blog, she was trying the new soft touch shadow pencils and when I had a look, they had some really nice colours, I wanted to buy them all! I ended up going for the 'Hollywoodland' colour, which is a gold and I find that really brightens and opens up my eyes. This also creates a nice base but if I apply it on its own.. it does tend to crease, so I recommend using a powder with it.
My final Nars purchase was a new eyeliner that would also help to brighten and open up my eyes, ready for that fresh spring look. One of my friends uses a white and it really suits her.. however, it did not seem to have an effect on me. I went for a... GOLD... AGAIN! I must have been having a glorious goddess day! The larger than life long-wear eyeliner in 'Campo De' Fiori', I am really loving this look on my eyes at the moment. It did take some getting used to as I am use to having black on my inside lid, but this is really natural and pretty. I don't find it lasts all-day though, so you may want to think about taking it in your bag when out and about.
I'm still loving my Bobbi Brown shimmer brick but I am alternating now with my Benefit Coralista blush for my cheeks.
Everything else is the same, still using my HD brow palette, Dermalogica eye cream, MAC bronzer and Laura Mercier primer.
For my body, as it is now more on display (now I don't have to wear a massive coat and jumper) I am back to my gorgeous Molton Brown 'Heavenly gingerlily soft body shimmer' This is a spring/summer must have but they have discontinued it :(
I am on the hunt for something just as good and I have heard great things about the new Tom Ford body oil.
I won't go into too much detail because I blogged about my Clarins products the other day, if you missed it, click here.
Just wanted to give you an update that these products are working wonders for my skin. I have had a few breakouts since using them, but that isn't uncommon when switching skincare routines. I am so happy with how my skin is looking and my dry patches on my cheeks have completed disappeared! The cleanser is really easy to use and one I get out the shower I just press on the toner and then apply the moisturiser.
So far, I am really impressed and as I only treated myself to the full sized moisturiser (using sample sizes of the rest) I will be buying the cleanser and toner next month!
Love Life,
Emma xxx
